L-O-V-E’s Just Another Word I Never Learned to Pronounce

TGIF Hots and Fits!

Ignore the title – I know I always say I can’t stand Katy Annoying Perry but for some reason I am starting to like her. Especially this song.

I am becoming such a slacker with posting. I have no excuse really!

Although I am doing the Winter Shape Up Challenge (courtesy of The Fitnessista) I am not as perfect as I was last year. With my eats, of course. Always the eats.

I am not totally bad either, but I should clean up the diet more. It is just so hard to eat well when you are surrounded by junk. I wish I could fine the right metaphor to explain the struggle.

Maybe I will time my dinners. As in, sit with the rest of the home dwellers, cause I love them and want to have dinner with them, but leave after 15 minutes, which is when the disaster is about to happen.

I had too much cake, long story short.

Here are some pictures for your of someone who, for sure, knows how to handle her diet:

Today I have the day off work (local public holiday) but like a good morning person I was up at 5:50. Go figure. I should go back to napping. Its also 7 AM at the moment and still dark outside. I can tell you that is SNOWED. There goes my marathon training. Did you know that my half is in just two months? Yea, don’t think it will happen.

A lot of people asked me why I don’t hit the treadmill. First, I hate it. I really do. Second, I need to go to the gym, which would cost me more than $35 and it opens at very inconvenient times (I like to workout in the early hours of morn, and they open only at 9. I am already working at those hours) and finally, its not too close to the casa.

Okay, I am off to enjoy some quality time with this buddy

And I am waiting for these saviours to arrive:

No. Not Anthrax. Powdered Egg Whites.

Alright, here comes my attempt at napping. Of course, right after I hit PUBLISH. See you all later!

Heathcliff, my love

Jolly Thursday Hots and Fits!

I started the day extremely well! Despite a rather restless sleep I got up at 5:20 and decided to run outside.

For me, if I know in my head that it is cold but still wanna make it out and not let the winter scare me off, I open the window, stick my hand out, and prove to myself its not that cold (considering the fact that I sleep with a tanktop). I think it works because I am very warm when I wake up (now, wearing a long sleeve shirt and typing this, I am freezing!).

It wasn’t that bad but I only did 2 KM because my foot hurt. My other foot, that is. Weird. Something isn’t making sense. I will try again tomorrow.

Came back home and had a date with this guy (while being imitated by a bunch of other people):

I did the last 20 minutes of Pure Cardio, only skipping the 8 push ups + running session because I was going to end up late to work.

After all the “get ready hassle” (which lasts 20 minutes) I sat down to a bowl of this.

Gorgeous.

I also had a cup of coffee in my favourite cup:

Wuthering Heights is my favourite book. I heard Heathcliff.

I other interesting news, I came upon an article claiming that according to research, the pressure our knees and ankle joints absorb when running with sneakers is greater than if we were to run barefoot!

The research, conducted by a team of scientists from the University of Colorado in Virginia (huh??) studied the pressure on the hip, knee and ankle by gathering 68 volunteers, 37 of whom were women, all healthy, broad age range, and with no significant history of muscle injuries.

They ran at least 24 miles a week, either outside or on the treadmill. They also made them walk in high heels around a shopping mall for a while.

Surprisingly, they found that running shoes provided the highest pressure levels on the joints!

Threre are individuals that are criticizing this research, claiming that the sample group was too small. All I have to say is that I wish I could run barefoot.

I actually did once (shhhhh ….its a secret). I was on holiday in some remote village with my family and I felt like going for a run, but did not have my shoes. It was right after I graduated from high school and done with the track, thinking I would never wanna lace up those shoes! Anyhow, I did it. It felt great. But it is dangerous. Just thinking about all the crap that could be on the road made me constantly look down.

Ight Hots and Fits, my little sis just came back from vacay today so I’m going to hang out with her. I will see you all tomorrow!!

Its Friday in 3 hours! Well, at least for me :P

The Floor Next to My Bed

This is what the floor by my bed looks like:

035

From top to bottom:

  • Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer – because I am a total sucker for Edward Cullen
  • Putin’s Russia by Anna Politkovskaya – because my sister is obsessed with Putin (and Russia) and we both enjoy talking politics (I know….feel free to roll your eyes)
  • Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling – because Harry has been in my life before I could even read English properly
  • Freakonomics by by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner – because my sister is studying Econs and because I can be extremely vain and materialistic

Some of the residents of my abode find it extremely weird that I read several books at ones. There are a few conditions that apply that they are not aware of:

  1. I would never do this with a book that I am very much into and have never read before (read: I have read the Saga and Harrys about a million times. Putin and Freakonomics are just okay, so I am taking it easy)
  2. I don’t read it as thoroughly as I would for a first/second/third time reads. I mainly focus on parts I liked the most
  3. I can afford to do this just because I am on holiday. When I am working, its one book at a time. I need my order!

Speaking of holiday, this is my first day off, and I am already going crazy. If I wasn’t enslaved the majority of the day with cleaning around the house and grocery shopping, I would probably call my boss and ask if I could still come in. It is so weird. During the week I always can’t wait for the weekend and feel so tired, but I guess I do like work and I do like my schedule!

So today I decided to follow the Insanity calendar:

Insanity workout sheet

Plyometric Cardio Circuit

Holy crow. Katie was just so right. These are kick-ass. I have to stop every once in a while because it is that hard! My heart rate does not go below 160 BPM (besides stretching/cool down). Also, I am really feeling my hamstrings, abdominals and my entire upper body! Ouch!

I would definitely not recommend this program to anybody who has not been working out for quite some time (I’d say at least 6 months). It is THAT hard.

Loads of jumping involved, pushups, mountain climbers, wall climbers, basketball jumps…I can’t help but smile though through this workout. I really like it, despite the fact that I feel like I am going to die. And I am amazed how Shaun T, the instructor, is able to pronounce whole, coherent sentences during it.

Alright. Your turn now. What literature treasures are laying next to your bed? Oh, and just for the record, my favourite book is Wuthering Heights. There. I said it.
