Heathcliff, my love

Jolly Thursday Hots and Fits!

I started the day extremely well! Despite a rather restless sleep I got up at 5:20 and decided to run outside.

For me, if I know in my head that it is cold but still wanna make it out and not let the winter scare me off, I open the window, stick my hand out, and prove to myself its not that cold (considering the fact that I sleep with a tanktop). I think it works because I am very warm when I wake up (now, wearing a long sleeve shirt and typing this, I am freezing!).

It wasn’t that bad but I only did 2 KM because my foot hurt. My other foot, that is. Weird. Something isn’t making sense. I will try again tomorrow.

Came back home and had a date with this guy (while being imitated by a bunch of other people):

I did the last 20 minutes of Pure Cardio, only skipping the 8 push ups + running session because I was going to end up late to work.

After all the “get ready hassle” (which lasts 20 minutes) I sat down to a bowl of this.

Gorgeous.

I also had a cup of coffee in my favourite cup:

Wuthering Heights is my favourite book. I heard Heathcliff.

I other interesting news, I came upon an article claiming that according to research, the pressure our knees and ankle joints absorb when running with sneakers is greater than if we were to run barefoot!

The research, conducted by a team of scientists from the University of Colorado in Virginia (huh??) studied the pressure on the hip, knee and ankle by gathering 68 volunteers, 37 of whom were women, all healthy, broad age range, and with no significant history of muscle injuries.

They ran at least 24 miles a week, either outside or on the treadmill. They also made them walk in high heels around a shopping mall for a while.

Surprisingly, they found that running shoes provided the highest pressure levels on the joints!

Threre are individuals that are criticizing this research, claiming that the sample group was too small. All I have to say is that I wish I could run barefoot.

I actually did once (shhhhh ….its a secret). I was on holiday in some remote village with my family and I felt like going for a run, but did not have my shoes. It was right after I graduated from high school and done with the track, thinking I would never wanna lace up those shoes! Anyhow, I did it. It felt great. But it is dangerous. Just thinking about all the crap that could be on the road made me constantly look down.

Ight Hots and Fits, my little sis just came back from vacay today so I’m going to hang out with her. I will see you all tomorrow!!

Its Friday in 3 hours! Well, at least for me :P

Another ChaLEAN

Hello my darlings!!!

I actually had an open window available also know as TIME and decided to do another one of ChaLEAN Extreme’s videos.

I simply proceeded to the second part of PHASE 1: BURN .

Again, I like how short it is, but find it so weird to only do 12 reps (I am actually a big fan of The Tracy Anderson Method, so that’s why)

ChaLEAN’s exercises do focus on many muscle groups, but then I already told you that.

So not to bore you anymore, I actually went ahead and googled Chalene Johnson, because I would like to know who is making me do a particular exercise and why.

The woman is 40, and she looks amazing. Heck, she also had two kids. But the interesting is that this woman actually created the popular exercise series known as TURBO JAM. I heard so many things about this program, but never actually tried it. Because it was that successful, she actually did two more workout systems similar to it, called Turbo Kick and PiYo.

Does anybody know any more about these programs? I would love to know what you think!

And in other news…Lindsay LaLohan was photographed this past weekend in St. Barts (I am SO jealous). She is looking really good I think!

But I am not sure why would you go walking around like this. Put some shorts on!

Rounding Up 2009: Favourite Health Magazine

About a year and a half ago I began to read health magazines religiously. It was like my own personal reading pleasure: all of my exercise obsessions put together!

Since I do not live in the US of A, I was checking which magazine would actually deliver the magazine to my whereabouts, at a decent price (most are probably not aware of this, but you usually end up paying triple the price of the purchase for delivery. VERY UNFAIR!)

Anyways, Runner’s World was way out of my budget, and same went for Women’s Health. I didn’t like Shape too much but I did like SELF and I got that.

So I had that for a year or so, but then I got tired of it. It was repetitive.

Lose Weight in Just 3 Weeks!

Got Flat Abs – FAST!

Your Best Body in 2 Months !

There is nothing wrong with these claims, all marketing considered. However, it delivers the wrong message to me personally. This is because I do not announce a project in my head to lose 10 lbs in a month, or to lose weight in X days. I am committed to my health, I am committed to my best healthy self, and I do this all the time (well, of course, there are times when I am not perfect, but isn’t everybody like that?)

Also, there seemed to be far too many advertisements. I know they gotta afford the low postage costs, but come on…

So I cancelled SELF and just started getting stuff from magazine’s webpages. A lot of SELF’s workouts are available on their site, and the same goes for Women’s Health. You just gotta browse through.

At the moment I am doing Women’s Health Skinny Jeans Workout, which is set out over 6 weeks (I am taking longer cause I do not actually have the time) – and let me just say, I am SO much more flexible.

Back to the point of this post – Fitsugar announced Women’s Health as the readers’ favourite health magazine of 2009. I bet it also has a lot of ads.

Peace out

Pink Does P90X

This comes a bit late, I realise, but whatever – so Pink is also part of the P90X craze.

1

Here is what she said to Women’s Health magazine (January’s issue):

“Ever hear of P90X? My brother and his wife are both in the Air Force; they do marathons and triathlons. I went [to visit them and she’s doing P90X]. I couldn’t keep up with her — and she’d just had her first baby four weeks ago. I was like, This is bullshit! I will perfect this thing! So usually, I wake up and do an hour of cardio, then an hour of P90X or yoga, then a half-hour of warm-up [during show rehearsal]. I do that six days a week.”

What I like about Pink is that she does not bull$hit. I can’t stand it when I see a magazine belonging to one of my other home dwellers laying around and it quotes a celebrity claiming they eat what they want and workout for no longer than 30 minutes a day, doing something they love. They probably work just as hard as Pink, if not harder. At least she admits it, though.

But wow, 2.5 hours for 6 days a week! No wonder she looks so good! I’d say she comes close to Jessica Biel’s title as the fittest female celebrity of 2009.

Rounding Up 2009: The Fittest Female Celebrity

Yet another one of these posts come today!

Fitsugar has crowned Jessica Biel as the fittest femal celebrity of 2009. Actually, she won the title in 2007 and 2008, too.

In case you were wondering, these were her competitors:

I’d have picked Jessica Biel too, although Madonna, IMHO, is the one the works the hardest. A little bit too much with all the muscles she has been showing, but I admire her persistence.

Who would you have picked?
