Raw Wanna Be

Hi people!!

Hope you all had a fabulous first week of February. I cannot believe how fast this year is flying by (for the record, my “year” starts in September).

I have been eating plenty of this:

Image

My bowl of yummy-goodness. I eat this every.single.morning. Sometimes I have cereals during the weekend.

Sweating plenty from this:

Image

INSANITY. How I love thee.

Spending too much time at the store buying these:

Image

Cauliflower florets, broccoli florets, wasa crackers, radish cheese spread, lettuce, ketchup, Yoplait, Gouda, Cheddar, canned blueberries and for the rest of the casa – nesquik, kitkats, twix…

And looking forward to this:

INSANITY’s Max Interval Circuit

My fitness inspiration Katie said these are amazing. I am well into the program, and I am ready to tackle one of these. I could have probably started them sooner, but since I only follow the program 90% of the time (I mix in some P90X cardio workouts instead of Insanity recovery workouts) I thought I would do the first phase twice. So, I will try this workout tomorrow and see how it goes.

Part of the overall aim is to look this good in Daisy Dukes:

Bar Rafaeli. Israeli model.

I know I always say Alessandra Ambrósio has the best body on this planet, and that Gisele Bundchen does too (although Ale is prettier in my opionion), but I must admit Bar doesn’t look bad either.

Random Question: Is anybody here a rawist or wanna-be rawist such as myself? I ask because I heard there is a raw rice alternative to cooked rice in sushi and I want to know what it is and how to make it. If you don’t know what the hell I am talking about, that’s totally cool.

Alright people, I am out. I am T-I-R-E-D. I need a lot of sleep. My body is demanding it.

Get Hot and Fit: ChaLEAN Extreme

Image

So, I have had this sitting around for quite some time now.

15 workouts on 6 DVDs.

Image

1

ChaLEAN (the instructor’s name is Chalene) is divided into three phases (information taken from the official Beachbody website):

PHASE 1: BURN

You start lifting weights to jump-start your metabolism and break down those “extra” reserves of fat. In these moderate training workouts, you’ll work your upper body then lower body, and learn how “Lean Phasing” will help you see major results every 30 days!

PHASE 2: PUSH

Chalene shows you how to lift heavy—beyond your comfort zone—so you build the muscle you need to burn fat. Chalene makes it easier than it sounds with incredibly fast results.

PHASE 3: LEAN

Here is where you really bring it home with new routines and dynamic moves that literally melt the fat off your body. You will be blown away with jaw-dropping results and rewarded with a brand-new body!

If you owe the deluxe DVDs, you also get:

EXTREME CARDIO

During each phase, Chalene ignites your metabolism with super-intense cardio and strength-training routines, and then rejuvenates and lengthens your hard-working muscles with an invigorating flexibility workout.

POWER CORE

Shrink, tighten, and tone your tummy with two targeted ab routines for a rock-hard midsection!

I have to let you know in advance that I have just read the program manual, skimmed briefly through the DVDs and did the first workout of phase 1. As time goes by, I will do more and be able to give your better reviews.

Anyhoo….

PHASE 1 – BURN CIRCUIT 1

Was just over 35 minutes long, and included a good warm up as well as a good cool down in my opinion. Chalene has 4 other people with her in the Imagestudio, one of them using bands, another one using lighter dumbbells, so you could follow whichever suits you best.

She really explains everything. She is also very nice. But fitness wise, she really tells you what you need to know in terms of reps and weights, which I like. I notice Tony does that too, and I think its very important. This really enables you to get the maximum results without forcing an injury on your body

2

So, what’s The Hot? Quick, much quicker than P90X’s 50-60 minutes workouts. Chalene really explains a lot, so what you are doing actually starts to make sense. Variety is key too, you wouldn’t get bored, actually time went by very quickly. Also, you work your whole body. Every single muscle. The Spit? I am a cardio whore, and this isn’t a cardio workout. Yes, there are some DVDs that focus merely on Cardio. But most of this is mainly toning. Which is not a problem as long as that is your goal. This is why I did INSANITY in the morning and then this. So I get a bit of both.Sig

Get Hot and Fit: Beachbody’s Insanity

How’s your weekend been, Hots and Fits?

Yesterday was a crazy day here! Despite the fact that I do not celebrate Christmas, I totally get sucked in the festives! I was at the mall for about 5 hours yesterday! Phew, so exhausting!

The snow situation is still the same here. As a matter of fact, its not getting any better, and neither are my nerves. I am trying to convince one of my home dwellers to help me stick the screws in my shoes but he says he has a feeling they will end up penetrating my foot and that’s a nasty picture. Heck yea, it is.

So, I told you before how I did two of the P90X workouts in the last couple of days, and while reading Katie’s blog, I noticed she was doing the Insanity workouts.

Image

1

Never heard of them before, but I thought I would look into them and see whether I should give it a shot. Many of the DVDs had the word “cardio” written on them, and I am such a cardio whore, I had to give this a try.

It is supposed to be a 60-Day Total Body Conditioning Program which consists of 10 workouts.

Here is a list of the workouts included:

1. Dig Deeper & Fit Test
2. Plyometric Cardio Circuit
3. Cardio Power & Resistance
4. Cardio Recovery
5. Pure Cardio & Abs
6. Cardio Abs
7. Core Cardio & Balance
8. Max Interval Circuit
9. Max Interval Plyo
10. Max Cardio Conditioning & Abs

Basically, this is a 2-month program that is pretty hard core.

The thing that bums me is that I know I would not be able to stick to it for 2 whole months. I suppose I could overcome the bordem factor but the crucial factor is the fact that I want to run.

Shaun T, the instructor, is a really nice and very good looking in my opinion, I like him more than the Tony Horton from P90X.

I just did the Fit Test today, which is the first part of the program. I briefly skimmed through it last night, and it looked hard. However, doing it was insanely hard!

Here are my results (this is a 25 minute workouts including warm up, 1 minute for each drill, 1 minute resting between drills, and finally a cool down:

Image

Again – this was hard. My HR sky-rocketed to about 196 BPM during some of these exercises. And I put myself in a high place whenever fitness endurance is considered (that’s actually a lie, I am not that tough…)

I am supposed to do this test again in two weeks. If I were to stick to the program, I should see some serious changes. Anyways, it does not look like the snow will melt in the next day or so, thus I shall probably do another one of these workouts tomorrow.

Peace out, I am off on a cleaning mission!

When Its Not In Our Control

Happy Humpday Hots and Fits!

Thank God this week is flying by! Only two more days of work here!

Today was a planned cross training day for me which was convenient cause it was quite cold outside. Mostly it was convenient because, as I previously stated, my right ankle is itching me a bit.

1

Instead I did a P90X video, called Interval Plus. I have the P90X DVDs but I do not actual follow them mainly because its quite time consuming and because I do not have the necessary equipment.

I honestly liked this DVD, and thought it definitely worked many muscle groups I do not normally work and there were certainly intervals there. I actually skipped the warm-up (about 4 minutes long) to do my own dynamic stretches, but then I did the remaining 36 minutes. The deal is, you start a routine (each “drill” lasting approximately 40 – 60 seconds) and then do the whole routine again, in reverse

Stats:

Time: 50 minutes

Avg HR: 169 BPM

Max HR: 181 BPM

Calories Burned: 421

I have been thinking a lot about my training and running in general today (happens usually when there is a running off day…I am completely addicted!). I realised I want to run and obviously I have to run, but most importantly, my will overpowers the fact that I have to, which is a good thing.

The reason I say “have to” is because I signed up for the races

I also realised, that, unfortunately, I am not a fan of the cold or the dark and that presents a sort of burden. I am comforted by the fact that before (2-3 years ago) the 5 AM wake up call bothered me and it no longer does. Perhaps, with time, the weather and season won’t be an issue. Nevertheless, the consequences that may occur are important. I may get sick (hopefully not pneumonia again, but my nose is runny and I am coughing), I may get injured (right now I am sitting with an elastic band around my ankle) and so the list goes on.

I don’t think I will run tomorrow because the roads look like this:

Then again, I do try to tell myself that it could be a lot worse. Well, it will all get better with time.
